So I have added a few things that I think are worth checking out. Blog #9

Select any aspect of your project that you have questions about. Discuss your concerns in your blog post #9.  I think my biggest concern is getting across the coder's mindset as I have discussed already with Professor Dudley. I am worried that I will focus too heavily on literacy and lose the essential teaching for coding. I think that I am also quite concerned with how to ensure that students find this material engaging. I have been working diligently to ensure that my students feel that the material I am presenting is engaging and encourages students to learn both coding as well as literacy. I think I am also concerned by the design of the website. I hope to provide more supports for teachers to implement coding in the classroom. I am going to link up another website I made for a previous course to ensure that all my students enjoy using this website. I think another question that has been lingering in the back of my mind is the differentiation that I can implement for my

MMP Update #2

MMP Update #2  1) What have you completed? For update 2: I added  the following  videos: character  cause and effect  2) What do you still need to complete and how will you achieve this? I still need to add a few more videos supporting phonics and building words, building sentences and paragraphs. 3) Share part of your project via a link, screenshot, etc. with your group           members. Please find the google classroom here:  Google Classroom 4) Describe how your involvement in your online communities has supported       and/or not supported your project. They helped me consider the design of the project to meet the many  5) Describe any specific feedback, suggestions, questions, etc. that you might want to receive from your classmates. How to make this more appealing to younger learners Assessment tools Video quality

Blog #8: Padlet for Technology Plan

Image
Technology Plan  Initially when I read the six steps of technology planning, I found there to be a lot of components required to ensure success. I found from my own experience in intro to digital tools that a teacher has to consider the technology, the support, the goal, evaluation method, and design of their implementation of the technology in the classroom. The plan must consider "planning, building a vision, needs assessment, curriculum and instruction, evaluation, goal setting, professional development, technology hardware, support and integration, media/marketing, and financial planning" ( Six Step Process in Creating a Technology Plan, n.d.). The plan also has to consider "procuring accessible technologies, promote globally harmonized standards, make e-government services accessible, embrace innovation, empower teachers" (Accessiblity priorities for policymakers, 2018). . To develop my padlet I broke it down into questions that a teacher might norm

MMP Update #1

MMP Update #1  Here is what I have done so far in my MMP for my google classroom about coding and scratch. I still have a lot to go. MMP Google Classroom Be sure to review my updated proposal https://sandidesairutgers.blogspot.com/2018/02/mmp-proposal.html so you know what I'm planning. Participation : I have looked at a lot of the resources provided in my groups chats. They really gave me great resources to follow when creating my own MMP website. For example, the group that I am participating in that discusses reaching ELL students had some great approaches to teaching writing and reading. I think I need to incorporate in someway the idea of graphic organizers for my younger learners who are ELL to support them during their work with scratch as well as reading. It will be especially helpful during the read aloud videos that students must study first prior to beginning any of the activities.   I found a lot of this information in the http://teachingsuccesseswithel

Blog #7: Reflection  How can the principles of design guide your decision making as you continually evaluate your multimedia montage project? The principles of design determine my decision making for   my MMP. For example, any videos that I add to support students in their learning will require adherence to a lot of the principles to appeal to my students as I present this material to them. The Addie model played heavily in my planning in helping me decide what objectives   to focus on in my project as well as the steps to build my project so far. I especially took into account the analysis questions presented in the video about the addie model in week 2 readings. I weighed heavily on the idea of who my audience was, what their learning style might be, and the characteristics of the learning environment. I decided to focus on students in early elementary because the topic I chose is rarely introduced to such a young age of learners. Also, I took into account the various learnin

Blog #6: Mini Art School 60 Second Video: Story Elements: Setting  Storyboard for video and website: 60 seconds-Story Elements: Setting Storyboard MMP Classroom Google Website layout: In this particular activity I created two storyboards and then the 60 second video that depicts a story element using scratch as the connection. In my storyboard, I kept in mind a lot of the key aspects discussed in the text as well as the videos. Story boards are a way to "tell the story shot by shot"  (Golombisky & Hagen, 2010). Story boards are a way to convey information to the reader about the key points of the video or the website that you are designing. I tried to consider the point of view in the first storyboard considering my target audience is younger learners. I decided to keep the audience as the "omniscient third person eye observing the story" that I told through my images    (Golombisky & Hagen, 2010). I considered the importa
