MMP Proposal

MMP Outline: Multimedia Proposal: Coding for Elementary Literacy Overall Goal:   Designing an online classroom for elementary students to use elements of coding to learn literacy. It will be a google classroom where students will work with video that include tutorials, scratch activities, literacy activities, and stories. I will provide students with an introductory video on what coding is as well as what scratch is.   My goal is to have students supplement their early literacy learning with fun activities that develop an understanding of how key components of an effective successful code mimic the key components of a successful sentence, word, or paragraph. Audience:   The audience includes students in elementary school who are trying to master elements of literacy with the help of coding. I plan to focus on elementary grades 1 st through 3 rd in this particular classroom.   Students will be able to access most of the resources through goog...

Blog # 3: Part 2: Reflection

Reflection Blog: Question: How are you feeling so far about the pace of this course? How are you feeling after the completion of Blog Post #3? Any questions? I think the pace of this course is pretty good. I think that there is a lot being asked of us at once in some cases but it is all with good reason. A lot of the material we cover is needed in order to effectively use technology in the classroom. After completing blog #3, I must say I was surprised with the mini-art school assignments. They were enjoyable but quite a lot of work. Thinking and analyzing from a design perspective is something unexpected in education courses but it was refreshing to do. I can see the importance of an activity like blog #3 especially when we will be trying to reach our students in a similar fashion during our own teaching. I think I am a little confused on the MMP project because I am not exactly sure what to do for that project. It is a little confusing. The MDMC project is a little confusing as w...

Blog 3 Part I: Mini Art School

Blog #3 Part I: Mini Art School Mini Art School Activity #1: Repetition page 58 I decided to try the activity on page 58 that covered the design concept of repetition. The key to this particular activity was to use repetition to "establish visual harmony and attracting notice" (Krause 2004). I was tasked with creating 3 different approaches to the same ad using repetition of the same image in the ad. In my particular pretend ad, I was trying to sell a painting class that meets on Thursdays at 2 pm. My three attempts are listed below. Version #1 Version #2    Version #3 I used the colors from the images to try to keep the text uniform with the images. I think the one that accomplishes the use of repetition to maintain harmony is the first one. "Visual harmony means the agreement between elements  both aesthetically and   thematically" which I think is best reflected in the first one (Krause 2004). The images are more connected to the tex...

Describe what communities you will join, your rationale for your selections, and how  you think your involvement in these communities will support the design of your project. I have decided to get involved in the communities provided on the Classroom 2.0 group. I am currently pending approval for my application to join Classroom 2.0. I am very excited to potentially join the groups that are present on there. I think in terms of my project, I am going to join groups that will help me with instruction for K-5 because that will be my focus for the project. I hope to teach elementary school and if I can create a component to a lesson that is heavily dependent on technology, it can help me as a elementary educator. Younger learners depend more heavily on the visual, especially students in the age of K-2 who are still learning the dynamics of written as well as spoken language. I hope to have my project focus on science so that my students can benefit from the addition of mul...
