Blog #8: Padlet for Technology Plan

Technology Plan

Initially when I read the six steps of technology planning, I found there to be a lot of components required to ensure success. I found from my own experience in intro to digital tools that a teacher has to consider the technology, the support, the goal, evaluation method, and design of their implementation of the technology in the classroom.

The plan must consider "planning, building a vision, needs assessment, curriculum and instruction, evaluation, goal setting, professional development, technology hardware, support and integration, media/marketing, and financial planning" (Six Step Process in Creating a Technology Plan, n.d.). The plan also has to consider "procuring accessible technologies, promote globally harmonized standards, make e-government services accessible, embrace innovation, empower teachers" (Accessiblity priorities for policymakers, 2018)..

To develop my padlet I broke it down into questions that a teacher might normally face when exploring new technology in the classroom. For example, the teacher would have to consider what technology they want to include in their class. I presented lists and information in the first column of possible technology a teacher may consider installing in their classroom.

Social media was a big one that a teacher would need to consider when designing a course around technology. I provided resources that could help a teacher decide if they want to implement social media in their classroom with proper supports.

I also took into account the role a teacher would play when teaching with technology. A teacher would have to reevaluate their role in ensuring student success with the technology.

Also, I incorporated some coding in the discussion as this is an aspect of technology that needs to be considered when teaching technology. A teacher must weigh the options of not including coding against preparation for the real world expectations for technology. Teachers would have to consider if coding is essential to their student's fundamental understanding of technology in preparation of expected 21st century skills.

I also provided information on assessment in general with information on how to use technology to assess. This assessment not only focuses on the student's abilities but also how a teacher can assess the success of the technology in the classroom as well as support student learning.

Finally, I provided information on how a teacher can build a support network to incorporate the technology in the classroom. the teacher must consider what is needed to ensure that the technology works, has support for upkeep, and support from the community of its use in the classroom.
